We Need a Dedicated Parks Director

We have 26 parks in Newburyport. They are a critical economic, cultural and recreational component of city life. They require ongoing services, dedicated management and maintenance.

The Importance of Vision for Our Parks

Vision guides the development of the park ecosystem, properties and recreation services. It defines the quality of facilities, services and programs and sets the foundation for determining the goals and responsibilities of the Parks Commission and Parks Department. It also serves as a guide for determining the community’s needs and measuring progress in meeting them.

Please see below as an example of  a vision statement:

Newburyport Parks should be a diverse, inclusive, innovative, resilient, safe and sustainable system that promotes green space, recreation, athletics, health, leisure, natural resources, civic engagement, conservation, education and economic activity as vital to a livable community.
